Bishop Afoakwah celebrates Diamond Jubilee Mass at Pedu
Most Rev. John Yaw Afoakwah, Bishop of Obuasi Diocese, recently presided over a concelebrated Mass at St. Peter’s Regional Seminary to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Seminary which was established on March 12, 1957.
In a homily, Bishop Afoakwah thanked God for the past and present staff members who had been part of the successes of forming Priests including himself.
He entreated the Seminarians to conform to school rules and regulations, study diligently, grow spiritually, and become visionary Priests.
He noted that their Formation, dedication, and foresight would help check the problem of some Catholic faithful from being preyed upon by unscrupulous prophets and false teachers.
Bishop Afoakwah said when Seminarians detached themselves from inordinate materialism and sin, they would realize God’s promises and be called His beloved.
In an address, Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Robert Charles Snyper, Rector of the Seminary, said it was significant for the Seminary to celebrate its 60th Anniversary, and on behalf of the Governing Council, welcomed the Prelate to his Alma Mater for the celebration.
The Regional Seminary was founded on March 12, 1957, six days after Ghana’s Independence from colonial rule.
A series of activities were undertaken by the Seminary to mark the year-long Diamond Jubilee celebration which will be climaxed at May 27, 2017, at the Seminary Campus.
